Digital Photography  

DDB Stock Photography creates and transmits digital images to clients who need an image or selection of images very quickly. We have professionally digitized a huge number of images from our picture library of well over 500,000 pictures of Latin America. The publication quality scans are available at very high resolution (2700 - 4000+ dpi) for your most exacting needs. The files are 24 bit - 48 bit RGB Tagged Image Format (TIF, TIFF) files of new images recently added to our library. We also provide free photo research. If you will provide a list of the subjects you need, picture researchers very familiar with our files will pull 0riginal 35mm - 4x5 inch transparencies, scan them, and put up customized lightboxs captioned and tightly edited to include only the subjects need. Most of our 110+ professional contributing photographers are now shooting digital. They have contributed a huge number of digital pictures to our rapidly growing collection of native digital images. Our native digital image collection ranges from 5 to 8 megapixel or larger

Each 25 Meg (4000 dpi) TIFF file reproduces at 8 x 12 to inches (2400 x 3700 pixels) when scaled to publication quality of 300 dpi at 100%. Each 65 Meg (4000 dpi) TIFF file reproduces at 12 x 18 inches (5781 x 3945) at 300 dpi at 100%. Compressed, the TIFF files average 27 Meg @ 4000 dpi. The scanned files are native RGB but can be lossless converted to 32 bit CMYK. The TIFF files can be converted to Kodak PCD or very highly compressed Jpeg including Jpeg 2000. We store our TIFF files in the highly compressed, scalable STN format and convert on the fly as necessary to meet a clients needs. There are very few graphic formats we cannot convert to, so just ask. The resulting scans are extremely sharp and the colors are accurate (saved with an ICC profile).

TIFF is the most commonly requested file format, but, as noted above, we can easily convert to other formats when necessary. We scale the files to exact the exact resolution and size you need for printing, publication or electronic use. All images are available for Internet delivery. If you have broadband access, as you most likely do, then you will find that most of our huge image files download in well under a minute. We have very fast servers and fiber broadband circuits that upload images at ca. 1 meg per second. You will not have to wait long for file transfers once you have collected a selection of images on our electronic light table.

Call or E-mail us describing the proposed use for the downloaded image and we will quote a price and provide a password to open the TIFFS. Our 6 megapixel jpeg comps with light watermarks may be viewed immediately and do not require a password to open. You may use them as comps when you are working up a project
