DDB Stock Photography specializes exclusively in photographic coverage of Latin America
and the Caribbean. The agency picture files include one of the largest collections of
Latin American images in the world. The extensive picture library currently includes over 500,000 color
transparencies of Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean Basin. The file
was started in 1970 and currently includes the work of 120 professional photographers.
The Images are returned to the photographer when they become dated and are replaced with fresh coverage.
Images are not mass-marketed as commodities on Royalty Free CD-ROM, so they are not oversold. Our coverage
is unique and targeted to an editorial client base; We avoid poised "stock" images with that fake feel to them.
We do not create recombinant, hybrid images created like a jigsaw puzzle from little parts cut out of
multiple originals and then digitally positioned to create a "new" image that does not exist in nature.
Our pictures are real captured moments in time that exist in nature and which, under the right light and positioning,
could be replicated in nature. They are real.
Agency picture researchers and personnel know Latin America very well and can quickly locate images
in the carefully computerized files. DDB Stock Photography is very digital
and has professionals scanning day and night to convert the film files to digital images.
When you consider that each high resolution, 2700 dpi digital TIFF scan requires 25-100 million bytes of
storage you quickly realize the scope of this ambitious project. We have ca. 20,000
hi-res digital images available for immediate download
